Driveway Tire Deadlifts

What a crazy few days. Friday 29 August was spent celebrating my daughter's wedding. It was a busy but wonderful day. Saturday we cleaned up a bit and took a much needed break. Today back at er'.

During today's training I reviewed past entries to see what my last heavy Deadlifts were. I was surprised to see I've only pulled ten times in the last year. Absolutely pathetic. Today's final pull is the best I've done during this time. At least this gives me a great place to start from.

This morning I went for a walk.


This afternoon...

Driveway Tire Deadlifts - 230lbs/6 reps, 320lbs/1 rep, 410lbs/1 rep, 500lbs/miss, 500lbs/1 rep, 520lbs/1 rep.


Static Stretches.

Feeling really good. Starting to feel strong again.

Heavy Bench

I haven't done any heavy Bench Press in a long time. Why not today?

Rebounding - 30 minutes.

Bench Press - 2 sets/12 reps/135lbs, 2 sets/8 reps/225lbs, 295lbs/1 rep, 315lbs/1 rep, 335lbs/1 rep, 355lbs/1 rep, 360lbs/miss, 335lbs/1 rep, 315lbs/1 rep, 225lbs/6 reps.




Fat Bar Cable Ext - 3 sets/12 reps/30kg.

Reverse Grip Barbell Curls - 3 sets/12 reps/45lbs.

Good pump. 355lbs equals my recent garage PB and my Provincial record. Happy with the results. Tomorrow is my daughter's wedding. I may not have time to train. Saturday for sure. Driveway Deadlifts.

Squats and Walk

With my daughter's wedding this Friday evening and my Father's medical appointments I'm run off my feet. Today I made some time to train. Nothing crazy but I'm glad I got under a bar.

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches.

Kettlebell Swings

Spent most of the morning going to the dump to drop off old deck boards and then move some furniture. This didn't result in a lot of steps so I got out to the garage for some afternoon training.

Not too exciting but training any how.

Log Driver's Waltz



Above is a picture from a video from my youth.

The Log Driver's Waltz is a Canadian folk song, written by Wade HemsworthThe Log Driver's Waltz is also a Canadian animated film from the National Film Board, released in 1979 as part of its Canada Vignettes series.

I was pressing a log then went for a walk around the block. I guess you could call training today the "Log Drivers Waltz."

Rebounding - 30 minutes.

Log Press - 6 sets/4,4,4,5,5,6 reps.


After the "Log Drive" a "Waltz" around the block.


After training I did some research on muscle gain and TRT.

TRT can lead to noticeable muscle gain, but the timeline varies. Changes in muscle mass, strength, and body composition typically start appearing within 3-4 months, with continued improvements over 6-12 monthsSignificant gains can be achieved with a combination of TRT and exercise, potentially doubling the results achieved through exercise alone

Today makes 8 weeks since starting TRT. My mental health is much better. I guess the best is yet to come.

Wood and Sit Up

Got up with a new attitude. After coffee and breakfast I started the day by moving all the old wood out of the back yard to the trailer. This took about 30 minutes. Some of the pieces were quite large and a bit heavy.


A little later on I decided on some actual training.

Rebounding - 40 minutes.

Sit Ups - 5 sets/20 reps.


My core is done. That said, I could not have done this a year ago. BW this morning 346.2lbs.

Not Feeling It Today

I slept in till almost 1000hrs this morning with a splitting headache. Very unusual for me. With that I decided to take the day off. Off training and off work. A nice break if you will. Tomorrow is another day and I'll get back on the rails.

Feeling good lately. Cardio fitness is getting slightly better and I was surprised to be a hole smaller on my belt today.

Push Pull

Yesterday was tough. We did a large amount of work on the deck. I was exhausted by the end of the day. This morning I went for a walk while my wife watched her show. Nice easy walk around the block.


This afternoon I decided to train some Push Pull.

Rebounding - 60 minutes.

Inclined Axel Press - bar/12 reps, 115lbs/12 reps, 6 sets/1,4,8,4,4,6 reps/225lbs.


NG High Cable Rows - 6 sets/12 reps/50,55,60kg.

Training At Bldg 90

I went to the base gym after work. I had about an hour to burn before getting my daughter.

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches.

Squats - bar/6 reps, 2 sets/6 reps/135lbs, 3 sets/6 reps/225lbs.


Deadlifts - 225lbs/1 rep, 5 sets/1rep/315lbs.


When I got home I ran through some lower body static stretches. Glad I did.

Not even remotely heavy but got the blood pumping.

100 Sit Ups

Got home from work and it's silly hot and humid. Good way to burn extra calories.

Light Stretches.

Rebounding - 60 minutes (6x10 min)

Sit Ups - 6 sets/12,14,16,18,20,20 reps.

My shirt is soaked through. The core work is getting easier. Feeling amazing.

Rebounding and FORCE Test Practice

I'm nervous as heck. Tomorrow is my FORCE Test. The Rushes have been the thorn in my side for months. If I get everything right I'll pass. If I mess it up I'm screwed. I'm about 75% confident I'll get under 51 seconds.
Today after work I wanted to practice just a little. Nothing taxing.

Rebounding - 30 minutes (6x5 min)

Rushes Practice - 6 sets.


Lots of Static Stretching.

Now its time for supper and rest up for tomorrow.

Walking, Rebounding and Sit Ups

Yesterday I was really confused as to how to train. In the end I went for a walk. Nothing crazy. Just a walk.


Today I was busy running around after work. After that I got out to the garage.

Rebounding - 30 minutes.

Sit Ups (on rebounder) - 6 sets/15,15,20,20,15,15 reps.

Lots of lower body stretching.

Feeling good. Feeling confident about passing the Force Test.

Rebounding, Pull-Push, Fasting and Cats

Today I decided to repeat what I did the other day. I finished eating around 1800hrs. I won't eat again today until around then. Maybe a little earlier if I feel really hungry. 
To keep myself occupied today I did rebounding with some upper body Pull-Push work.

Rebounding - 75 minutes.

WG High Cable Rows - 6 sets/50,55,60kg/12 reps.

Axle Bench Press - 115lbs/12 reps, 205lbs/6 reps, 4 sets/12 reps/205lbs.


Normally I would start with the Press then the Pull. Mixing it up keeps the body guessing. Even something so simple. Feeling good. 4.5hrs till I eat.

Oh ya, I almost forgot. It's International Cat Day! A day to celebrate your feline friend.

FORCE Test Practice

I've been working hard to get ready for the FORCE Test. It's scheduled for next week so today was my last practice. Through anxious thoughts I concluded that today's practice would go one of two ways. Either I'd finish the Rushes well below the 51 sec pass or I'd fail horribly. Of course it didn't go either of these ways. I managed 51.03 sec.


Now I'm more freaked out than even. Oh well, all I can do is train lots over the weekend and get ready. There are many places I can improve on. As long as I get some of those right I'll be ok. I never realize how big I am until I see videos of me trying to run.

24hr Fast and Rebounding

I finished dinner early last night at work. I got up somewhat last this morning. Combined I had already done a 14hrs Fast. What's another 10hrs? I'm allowing myself some black coffee and water.

Tomorrow I'll be attempting the FORCE test again. I have been working. Fingers crossed. This will be the last practice before the real test on Wednesday morning. Again, fingers crossed.
Today I didn't want to push it. Rebounding with some sit-ups and stretching thrown in for good measure.

Sit-Ups - 4 sets/15 reps.

Feeling Better

Yesterday I was still feeling sore and run down. I took some pain meds to deal with my left hip and lower back. Through out the day we loaded our utility trailer with old deck boards and made a run to the dump. That was my activity for the day.
Last night I didn't sleep very well but I feel physically better today.


After the walk I did 2 sets of 20 sit ups and lots of lower body stretching. My lower back feels much better after the stretches. Tomorrow I'll be walking again with stretches and some upper body work. Thursday I'll be attempting the FORCE test again. This time I better pass the Rushes.

Feeling Terrible Lately

High stress at work and lack of quality sleep lately has played havock on my mood and motivation. Not good considering I have my FORCE test coming up soon. We went to work on the deck last night and I just couldn't do it. I felt terrible.
Last night I got a solid 9 hour sleep. I'm feeling better today. The Jog/Walk this morning felt tough but I feel better for doing it.



Time for some breakfast then get going on the deck again. I'd like to have it finished this weekend. Considering Monday is a holiday.
