OH Press

Motivation is crap today for some reason. The weather is amazing finally but I feel lethargic. Oh well, at least I moved some weight today.

Short on time today eventhough it was my Saturday. Well, I had stuff to do. Squats went well despite it.

Now I gotta strip the bar and rush to pick up my wife.

After the oil change on my car it was time for some Benching.

Band Assisted Bench Press - 4 sets/6 reps/275lbs minus mini bands.

Deadlifts

Lots of walking at work today, then Deadlifts and finish up with another walk around the block with my son.

Work Walking - ~10km.

Tire Deadlifts - 165lbs/6 reps, 2 sets/6 reps/235lbs, 325lbs/6 reps, 370lbs/6 reps.


To finish up I am trying something that the current World's Strongest Man demonstrated on his YouTube channel.

Bar Hangs - 3 sets working up to 30 seconds.


Walk Around The Block -2.5km

Instead of repping out Deadlifts at the end if my working sets and ripping up my hands I will try these Bar Hangs for a while.

Standing Barbell Press

Shoulders and upper body are getting stronger. Stability and control are much better. Again the garage door is open and the glorious warm weather is motivating my training.

Shoulder Mobility.

Standing Shoulder Press - 3 sets/12 reps/bar, 115lbs/12 reps, 135lbs/12 reps, 155lbs/10 reps.


OH Plate Ext - 2 sets/20 reps/45lbs.

Slide Laterals - 10lbs/12 reps, 2 sets/12 reps/15lbs.

Barbell Curls - 3 sets/12 reps/45, 55,65lbs.

Nice. Now where's my supper?

Deload Squats

What a glorious day. Finally! After a long winter I can finally open my garage door and enjoy the outdoors while I train.

Leg Swings and Stretching.

Paused Squats - 3 sets/8 reps/bar, 3 sets/6 reps/135lbs, 3 sets/6 reps/225lbs.


The pause made these a little harder than normal Squats. Working form felt great. In reality besides enjoying the outdoors while I train I also love scaring the crap out of the neighborhood.

Deload OH Press

Wanting a good pump before BBQ for supper. A place for my gains to go.

On Thursday I spent most of my thoughts at work getting amped up for Squats when I got home. I wasn't disappointed.

Stationary Bike - 5 minutes.
Squats - 135lbs/10 reps.
Stationary Bike - 6 minutes.
Squats - 135lbs/10 reps.

The garage was slightly cold and I wore shorts as to wear knee sleeves. So, I cut it short there because I was cooking down. I'm pleased. Best I've done in a while.

Quick and easy.

I've been seeing 5,3,1 on digital clocks a lot lately. As the interpretation of the numbers really seem to differ from site to site I am concluding that the universe is telling me to get my ass into the gym and train.

Tire Deadlifts

I wanted to mix up my Deadlifts after work today. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do trap bar Deadlifts or Tire Deadlifts. The latter won out.

Tire Deadlifts - 2 sets/6 reps/165lbs, 235lbs/6 reps, 325lbs/6 reps, 415lbs/8 reps.


These felt really good. No belt and no straps. I don't feel really strong right now but, I'm sure this is some kind of record for me.

OH Press

I have been eating like a pig lately. Way too many calories and not enough activity. I pushed a little today. Not much but still a little something.

Light Stretches and Shoulder Mobility.

OH Press - 2 sets/12 reps/bar, 95lbs/12 reps, 135lbs/8 reps, 155lbs/6 reps, 185lbs/5 reps, 5 sets/10 reps/115lbs.


I was supposed to do 170lbs for 1+ reps IAW the 5/3/1 program. So, 185lbs for 5 reps (missing the sixth) is kinda good. It's coldish today, -3 degC with a wind chill. The garage is right about zero. I may go for a walk. Gotta have a place for all those turkey gains to go.

A little different training after work today. I dragged out my stationary bike. We bought it from Costco 15 years ago and it still works great.

Leg Swings and Stretching.

Stationary Bike - 5 minutes.

More Leg Swings and Stretching.

Squats - 2 sets/6 reps/bar, 2 sets/6 reps/135lbs, 225lbs/6 reps, 275lbs/6 reps, 315lbs/3 reps, 350lbs/4 reps.


Alternate the Following

Squat - 3 sets/6,8,10 reps/135lbs.
Stationary Bike - 3 sets/5 minutes.

Considering I walked over 10km and climbed over 30 flights of stairs I'm pleased with the results. I'm sure with the Stationary Bike I'll have trouble walking two days from now.

Still training in the garage. It was a little colder today and we got a bit of snow. Yuck! The garage was alright with a hoody and space heater.

Light Stretches.

Bench Press - 2 sets/12 reps/135lbs, 225lbs/8 reps, 255lbs/6 reps, 295lbs/9 reps.

OH Plate Ext - 2 sets/12 reps.

Tire Push Ups - 5 sets/10 reps.


295lbs for nine reps is pretty good. The Tire Push Ups are something I just thought of. They offer a deficit and a good stretch.

Band Assisted Pull Ups - 5 sets/6 reps.

It's warm enough that the bands are not rigid. I missed doing the band assisted pullups. No belt and no straps or chalk. Feeling fat because my diet is ridiculous but feeling mechanically healthy.

Feeling pretty good today. The weather is getting more mild and it's not so frigid in the garage.

OH Barbell Press - bar/12 reps, 95lbs/12 reps, 125lbs/6 reps, 145lbs/6 reps, 160lbs/6 reps.


OH Dumbbell Press - 5 sets/12 reps/50lbs.

Today I packed up a weight training package and brought it over to a friend's garage. It makes me feel good to ensure a fellow lifter is able to train despite the Covid19 quarantine.

Squats

No change in the world. Covid19 is still running rampant and nonessential businesses are closed. The weather has turned snowy and cold again despite being so nice yesterday. With my local gym being "nonessential" it's time to bundle up, put on the space heater and squat in the garage.

Leg Swings and Stretching.

Squats - bar/12 reps, 135lbs/8 reps, 225lbs/6 reps, 250lbs/5 reps, 290lbs/5 reps, 330lbs/6reps, 2 sets/6 reps/135lbs.


Here are some points for today's training.

- I didn't wear knee sleeves.
- I  didn't wear my belt until the last set 330lbs.
- I  cut the training short as I was starting to tighten up.
- It wasn't that cold in the garage. Right around 0 degC.

I am really pleased with the final heavy set. Considering the situation.
