OH Pressing

A bit strange today. Spent most of the morning and early afternoon shopping with my lovely wife. While she was making supper I got out to the garage. 

Light Stretches. 

OH Trap Bar Press - 2 sets/10 reps/35lbs (bar), 85lbs/6 reps, 4 sets/4,6,6,8 reps/135lbs.



Yes, you read that right. I pressed my trap bar overhead. It felt like a combination of log and viking press. Gonna do these again for sure.

SSB Squats

Lots of walking today at work and kind of a stressful day. No energy for squats. I needed to squat to decompress but no real rage. Still a pretty alright day.

Rebounding - 20 minutes. 

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches. 

SSB Squats - bar/12 reps, 2 sets/6 reps/140lbs, 230lbs/6 reps, 320lbs/4 reps, 340lbs/2 reps.



No where near potential. Lots left in the tank. All reps were not difficult physically. Mentally, I was gassed even before I started. Now it's family time. I'm down for that for sure.

Bench Press with Chains

Tough one today. No worries, I punished myself for being weak.

Rebounding - 20 minutes. 

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches. 

Bench Press - 2 sets/12 reps/135lbs, 225lbs/8 reps, 4 sets/4 reps/225lbs+135lbs Chain. 


NG Bench Press - 4 sets/2 reps/225lbs+135lbs Chain. 


OH Plate Ext - 2 sets/12 reps/45lbs (strict)

Standing Plate Curls - 2 sets/12 reps/45lbs (strict)

Work this weekend which means lots of steps. Get the gains now. Rest on Saturday and Sunday.

Tire Deadlifts

With that phantom injury gone its time to get dialed in for Deadlifts For Dreams. I only have about four weeks so I don't have anything really programmed. I'm just trying to ramp up the intensity. My goals may be lofty but here are my dream attempts. 550/585/600lbs. Today felt pretty good. 

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches. 

Theragun. 

Tire Deadlifts - 2 sets/6 reps/235lbs, 325lbs/6+1,1,1 reps, 415lbs/1 rep, (belt and figure 8 straps) 2 sets/4,2 reps/505lbs.


I wore the figure 8 straps because my hands were sore from the hangs yesterday. Next week back to regular Deadlifts and singles. Body feels good.

Post Fishing Training

Got home from fishing early enough to do some training. OH Pressing is scheduled. 

Rebounding - 20 minutes.

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches. 

Kettlebell Swings - 40lbs/20 reps, 40lbs+orange band/20 reps, 40lbs+orange band/20 reps.


OH Dumbbell Press - 30lbs/12 reps, 3 sets/12 reps/50lbs.


Hangs - 10,10,25,20 seconds. 


Light Stretches. 

A bit of a patchwork program but still felt great.

Squats

Body feels much better than last week. Squats feel quite normal. I didn't push too hard just incase. Everything stayed together.

Static Stretches. 

Feeling pretty good. Time to step on the gas for Deadlifts For Dreams. 16 September.

Confusing

My injury has been feeling non-existent lately. Time to try and get this rig back on the road.

Rebounding - 30 minutes. 

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches. 

Deadlifts - 135lbs/6 reps, 225lbs/6 reps, 2 sets/1 rep/315lbs, 405lbs/1 rep, 495lbs/1 rep.


495lbs felt like a last warm up or an extremely easy opener. I'm a bit surprised but very happy. This is a great place to start to get ready for Deadlifts For Dreams in a month.

A Start

 I've been walking, rebounding and using my Theragun. I've also been icing and doing hot/cold water treatments in the shower. The groin pain I had seems to be almost gone. Today I tried some exercises. 

Theragun 

Rebounding - 20 minutes. 

Leg Swings and Slower Dynamic Stretches. 

Squats - 2 sets/6 reps/bw, 2 sets/6 reps/bar, 2 sets/6 reps/135lbs.


Bench Press - 3 sets/12 reps/135lbs.

Gonna try Deadlifts tomorrow.

Well This Sucks

Last week I didn't train at all because I volunteered to work eight days straight. Getting up at 0400hrs everyday was exhausting. Also I felt that I was due for a break. Other than a little rebounding I did nothing. Friday the 11th August was my last day and it was stressful. I wanted to get home and start training for Deadlifts For Dreams 16 September. I got onto the rebounder and after 45 minutes I got off and felt a twinge in the inside of my left leg. I felt nothing bad during the time I was bouncing.  I decided to end it there. No Deadlifts. Good thing I did because I currently have a groin pull bad enough that it's caused a bruise. It hurts like heck. WTF!!! I didn't do anything that would cause this. Oh well. I guess I'm on an extended break. I'll post later in the week with an update.

Deadlifts and New Bar

I got home from work, had a bite to eat, played some Fortnite then got out to the garage for some Deadlifts. 

Rebounding - 30 minutes. 

Leg Swings and Dynamic Stretches. 

Deadlifts - (OH Grip) 2 sets/6 reps/225lbs, 315lbs/6 reps, 385lbs/1 rep.



At this point I go to buy a new (to me) barbell. Bells Of Steel utility bar.



When I get home. 

Deadlifts - (normal grip) 385lbs/6 reps.


I have a question? 

I bought a CAP Boss (OB-86PB) back in 2008 when I built my first home gym. I have never trained with another Olympic barbell in my own home gym. It has been put through hell and continues to perform perfectly. Today I bought a Bells Of Steel utility bar from FB marketplace.

My question is this,

Do you think it's possible that a barbell could get jealous? I feel a tad guilty for getting this newer bar.

OH Barbell Press

Another warm day in the garage. 29°C but feels like 31°C with the humidity. 

Rebounding - 30 minutes. 

Light Stretches. 

Alternate the following 

External Rotation Press with band. 

OH Barbell Press - 2 sets/12 reps/bar, 2 sets/8,10 reps/135lbs, 2 sets/10 reps/155lbs, 175lbs/8 reps.



Best overhead work in a long time. These all felt really good. Now I've sweat through everything. Time for a shower and change.

Buffalo Bar Squats

My last post was Thursday. That doesn't mean that I haven't been keeping busy. I worked Friday through Monday. Saturday and Sunday I got lots of steps with patrols. Plus I also did lots of rebounding. This morning there was a thunder storm. It was short lived but there was lots of rain.

Right now it's 27°C buy feels closer to 30°C with the humidity. Time for Squats!

Rebounding - 30 minutes. 

Leg Swings with band and Dynamic Stretches. 

Buffalo Bar Squats - 135lbs/10 reps, 185lbs/9 reps, 235lbs/8 reps, 285lbs/7 reps, 335lbs/6 reps.



Static Stretches. 

I weighed the bar and plates. Everything came out to 342lbs. Cool! Now I gotta get a shower and something to eat.
